Stephen Corey — Editor

Stephen Corey joined the staff of The Georgia Review in 1983 as assistant editor and subsequently has served as associate editor, acting editor, and, since 2008, editor. He has published nine collections of poems, most recently There Is No Finished World (White Pine Press, 2003); his individual poems, essays, and reviews have appeared in dozens of periodicals; and he has coedited three books in as many genres, including (with Warren Slesinger) Spreading the Word: Editors on Poetry (The Bench Press, 2001). Over the past twenty-five years he has served as poet-in-residence or visiting poet/editor for numerous writing programs, conferences, and other literary gatherings, and currently he is editor-in-residence for the Rainier Writing Workshop low-residency MFA program at Pacific Lutheran University. Born in Buffalo and reared in Jamestown, New York, Stephen Corey holds BA and MA degrees from Harpur College (now Binghamton University) and a PhD from the University of Florida.

  Mindy Wilson — Managing Editor

Mindy Wilson, managing editor since 2006, has worked in literary and scholarly publishing for more than a dozen years, including editorial positions at The Gettysburg Review, Black Warrior Review, and the University of Alabama Press. She is a co-founding editor of the independent literary publisher Ninebark Press and an active freelance editor of book manuscripts. At The Georgia Review she oversees production of the journal and participates in editorial planning and decision-making. She reads manuscripts, works closely with authors in editing all accepted work, directs art selection, and edits the website. She has an MFA in creative writing from the University of Alabama and has published work in New Orleans Review, Alabama Heritage, and New Georgia Encyclopedia.

  Douglas Carlson — Assistant Editor

Doug Carlson began his association with the Review with the Fall 1988 publication of his essay “At The Edge,” the first of more than a dozen of his essays and reviews to appear in the journal. He was guest editor for the Spring 1993 nature-writing issue and joined the regular staff in January 2007, working primarily in manuscript evaluation and editing. Carlson’s essays on natural and cultural history have appeared frequently in magazines and journals as well as in several anthologies, including A Place Apart (W.W. Norton, 1993) and The Sacred Place (University of Utah Press, 1996). His work has been collected in two books: At the Edge (White Pine Press, 1989) and When We Say We’re Home (University of Utah Press, 1999). His most recent book, Roger Tory Peterson: A Biography, was published by the University of Texas Press in 2007.

David Ingle has been an assistant editor at the Review since 2000. During those years he’s been privileged to work with some of the finest writers in America—those with established reputations as well as those who are at or near the beginning of their writing and publishing lives. He takes special pleasure in identifying promising submissions soon after they arrive, sharing his enthusiasm for those manuscripts with fellow editors, and shepherding strong poems, short stories, and essays through the evaluation process. David has also handled much of the journal’s book review business over the last couple of years. He is a poet, reviewer, and short story writer whose work has appeared in Arts & Letters, Crazyhorse, Quarterly West, Verse, Spitball, Yemassee, and elsewhere. He has a BA in philosophy from the College of Charleston and an MA in comparative literature from the University of Georgia.

  Brenda Keen — Business Manager

Brenda Keen has been business manager since the Fall 1999 issue. She is responsible for accounting, payroll, purchasing, budget development, permissions requests, advertising, and other administrative duties. (Her favorite task is sending payments to contributors.) Prior to coming to the Review, Brenda worked for ten years at UGA’s Carl Vinson Institute of Government, where she came to appreciate the importance of citizen education and participation. She has been involved in staff governance at UGA since 1995 and has held various offices on the UGA Staff Council and the University System of Georgia Staff Council. She has also served on University Council and on several search and ad hoc committees.

  Scott R. LaClaire — Production and Design Manager

Scott R. LaClaire received his BFA in creative writing from Bowling Green State University. He was editor and publisher of the independent literary journal Lazy Bones Review and a freelance designer for Hill Street Press before joining the Review as circulation manager in 2000. He became production and design manager when the Review transitioned from its long-time process of letterpress printing to offset printing in spring 2003. He is also the chief web designer for the magazine. Born in upstate New York and raised outside of Boston, he has called Athens his home since 1994.

    Janine Faucher — Circulation Manager

Janine Faucher, a native of Athens, Georgia, joined the staff in February 2008 as circulation manager. In addition to the circulation duties, she handles accounts receivable, issue and merchandise inventory, front office reception, shipping and receiving, and supervision of the federal work-study student positions.

  Chantel Dunham— Development Director

Chantel Dunham has served as director of development for the UGA Libraries for the past sixteen years and in 2010 began fundraising and board expansion efforts for The Georgia Review and the UGA Press as well. A Ragin’ Cajun originally from Lafayette, Louisiana, Chantel has led successful fundraising efforts for the new Special Collections Libraries Building and has been instrumental in helping to acquire some important collections to be housed in that facility. She also led the fundraising efforts for the Miller Learning Center, developed an active and generous Board of Visitors for the libraries, and helped to develop and endow the Georgia Writers Hall of Fame program.

C. J. Bartunek — Assistant to the Editors

C.J. Bartunek is a PhD student in literature and creative writing at UGA, specializing in twentieth- and twenty-first-century American fiction. She received her BA from the University of Southern California. Born and raised in North Dakota, she lived on the West Coast for several years before moving to Athens in 2008.
